***UPDATED***Jacky Concert News - North America tour dates!!!

**UPDATED 11/30/17**

Ok, so I have updated information.  I actually called the concert organizers (Universal) and was able to get confirmed information from them.  Jacky will indeed be doing 3 shows in Connecticut and 1 show (so far) in Las Vegas – the dates below are also accurate ( I didn’t ask about Canada, since I live in the U.S., so my apologies to Canadian fans).  The lady I spoke with said that tickets have not officially gone on sale yet.  I told her that I know of people who claim to already have bought tickets and she said she knows, as there were a bunch of people who somehow were able to get into their website earlier and buy tickets even though they were not officially on sale (perhaps website was hacked?)…as soon as they found out about this, they shut everything down, which is why there is no information about Jacky’s concert on their website (iemshowplace.com).  The tickets don’t officially go on sale until next week – the exact date and time will be announced on their Facebook page in the next couple of days.

Also, in terms of prices, the most expensive tickets range between $468 to $488 USD – this is important to know because if anyone tries to sell you tickets for more than that price (not including handling charges of course), most likely they are scalpers.  Just wanted to make everyone aware so fellow fans don’t get jipped out of their hard earned money.

I’ll keep posting updates as I find out more info.

**UPDATED 11/29/17**

There is finally word on the show dates for the North America (USA / Canada) leg of Jacky's concert tour!  I got word from a friend that the show dates for U.S. and Canada are tentatively scheduled for the following:

Las Vegas:  2/17/18 at MGM Grand Garden Arena

Connecticut  2/2/18 through 2/4/18 at Mohegan Sun Arena

Vancouver, Canada:  2/27/18 at Rogers Arena

**

From what I understand, the above dates are tentative and supposedly additional dates are being finalized.  I checked UMG's official concert tour web page and none of the above dates are posted yet -- not sure if they are behind on posting or the dates haven't been confirmed yet.  I haven't heard any official announcements from Universal or Jacky's fan club yet so of course take this with a grain of salt.

In terms of ticket information, I've seen some websites that supposedly are selling tickets, but not sure if I believe the legitimacy of those.  I checked the website that was listed on the Las Vegas poster (yes, there is a poster for the Las Vegas one already...though real or fake I don't know) where supposedly tickets were being sold, but when I pulled up the site, Jacky's concert isn't even listed.  My friend said that his friend told him he bought tickets already but again, not sure how true that is.  I checked MGM Grand's website where it lists upcoming shows all the way out through February and so far nothing there either.

I will definitely post further if I hear anything -- for now though, this is all I've got.  If anyone else hears anything, feel free to give me a holler in the comments!

    1. @sport: Tickets will be sold on iemshowplace.com. That’s the entertainment company hired by Universal to handle things here (they are located in New York). Tickets for both Las Vegas and Connecticut shows will be sold on the same site. I actually called and talked to someone over there who said that tickets will be released to the public some time next week...they said to check their Facebook page, as they will announce the date and time there. The other thing to keep in mind though is that no one knows what type of tickets will be released to the public. Most likely the top tier tickets will be pre-reserved already for the business sponsors and organizers’ friends, etc.

Yes, all shows will be 4 sides stage. When they did the press con for the Connecticut shows, the exec from Mohegan Sun said that it took a lot of effort to get Jacky to agree to do shows there and Huang one requirement is that they do the exact same show that his fans in HK / Taiwan / Mainland got to see — in other words, American fans can’t get the short end of the stick by getting a watered down show. They said that Jacky and his team will be bringing all their equipment over and the stage will take 4 to 5 days to build and they will need to accommodate the close to 300 strong crew (dancers, band, backup singers, etc). That’s also another reason why the LV concert will be held at MGM this time around instead of Caesar’s Palace (which is where all his previous concerts were held)...Caesar’s is too small and also no way to build a 4 sided stage.

    1. @Anonymous (part 1 response): I saw the Canada date along with the U.S. dates on a spreadsheet that a fellow Jacky fan put together who has been tracking his concert since it started. I don't know if she has inside info but so far from the few instances I checked, her info seems to be relatively accurate (though I can't really vouch for her info 100% since I haven't validated enough of the dates to know for sure). The U.S. dates were pretty accurate though (except that initially, the Connecticut shows were said to be in New York, but I don't count this against her since she doesn't live in the U.S. so is not familiar with U.S. cities and states -- besides, Mohegan Sun is close enough to NY that saying the concert is being held there isn't that much off. Also, I know quite a few people who actually live in the U.S. and had never heard of Mohegan Sun prior to this).

I won't be tracking the Canada shows but I can tell you my experience validating the U.S. dates and perhaps that might help you. For the U.S. shows -- not long after I saw the information, one of my other friends here in the U.S. sent me the picture of a poster she saw advertising Jacky's concert in Las Vegas. Since I hadn't heard any official announcement from Universal and absolutely nothing from any media source in HK (I even checked with Jacky's fan club in both HK and Taiwan but they also hadn't heard anything), I called the number on the poster (IEM Showplace) and they told me the dates were legit but that tickets wouldn't go on sale until the following week. They told me to check their (IEM Showplace) Facebook page, which would announce the official date that tickets go on sale. So from that moment on, I monitored IEM Showplace's Facebook page and sure enough, the following week, they finally posted about Jacky's concert (there was NOTHING previously on both their website and Facebook) and not long after that, they posted the official date/time for presale.

    2. @Anonymous (part 2 response): One thing to note though is that there is alot of secrecy surrounding Jacky's concert dates in North America (I have no clue why). For the Mohegan Sun shows, the execs actually did a press conference (where top guns from Mohegan Sun, IEM Showplace, and Universal were present) announcing those 3 shows and how difficult it was to get Jacky to agree to perform there. I also saw ads on TV for these shows (I subscribe to TVB's satellite channels here in the U.S. and they advertise concerts at Mohegan Sun all the time). The Las Vegas one though, there was basically ZERO promotion outside of the poster....in fact, up until date of presale, quite a few people I know did not believe that the LV show was legit. It wasn't until Universal official updated the concert's website that people believed it (though they updated the site the night right before presale so unless you were monitoring the site, you probably wouldn't know). I know alot of people who missed out on buying tickets during pre-sale because of this.

So basically, I guess the advice I can give you is this: monitor IEM Showplace's Facebook page (NOT their website, as they didn't have ANY info about Jacky's concert, even on day of pre-sale -- it wasn't until after official ticket sales on 12/8 ended that they put up Jacky's concert info on their home page). The other tip is to call IEM Showplace if you happen to have any questions -- they will probably answer vaguely, but most of what they told me each time I called has been absolutely accurate. Also, if you know of other Jacky fans in Canada (Vancouver more specifically), see if they heard anything...for me, I was lucky that one of my friends knew one of the local business sponsors for Jacky's concert here in the U.S. and he was the one who tipped her off about the poster, which she in turn sent me a picture of and that's when I started inquiring. The last option is to check with the venue where the concert is supposedly to be held in Vancouver, though this one is a gamble because 1) the venue might not be accurate and 2) they might not have the information up if it's not confirmed or if they were told by organizers not to put up info. To this point, here's one thing to keep in mind -- as of today (after tickets have officially sold for the U.S. shows), both venues in the U.S. -- Mohegan Sun in Connecticut and MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas -- still don't have info about the concert on their sites...when you try to call them (as I have done), all they will say is that the concert is not yet confirmed....so yea, this provided to be the least helpful option for us but hey, maybe the venue in Canada is better.

If you have further questions, feel free to post here (or in any of the posts I put up about Jacky's concert). Good luck! :-)

    3. Wow thanks for your detailed explanation and quick response! Really appreciate it! Will do as u suggested and observe the fb for announcement. I tried looking at the official website for the US tickets, I wasn't able to buy any tickets, wonder if they sold out, or that the presale is over and the actual sale hasn't started..

    4. @Anonymous: You’re very welcome! :-)

U.S. tickets for the 3 Connecticut shows and 1 Las Vegas show were mostly sold out last time I checked (Pre-sale was on 12/7 and official sale was on 12/8). For the Las Vegas show, VIP tickets all sold out during pre-sale; for Connecticut show, there were still VIP tickets available Friday morning (though most of those were gone by Friday afternoon). However, with that being said, there is a message on IEM Showplace’s Facebook currently stating something along the lines of their server crashing (probably due to high demand for the tickets) and so they had to take the site down for repairs. They will make the site available again today (12/11 at 2pm EST), however it is not clear whether there are still tickets available or if this is just so that they can finish processing the sales for those whose transactions got stuck and did not go through due to the server crash. Perhaps you might want to check this afternoon when IEM Showplace puts the site back up and see if you can still get tickets. Otherwise, definitely monitor Facebook and see what other information they put up.

  3. Hi can you find out if there are going to be more shows announced for Las Vegas? That weekend is a 3 day holiday weekend so I think they can add one or two more since demand is huge

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. @Unknown: Actually, rumor has it that there WILL be 2 additional shows that weekend (on 2/16 and 2/18) however it has not been officially announced yet, most likely because they are still trying to confirm venue (booking venue in Las Vegas is not easy, as you have to compete with so many other organizations – also they had said during the Mohegan Sun press conference that the ) I know someone who works at one of the Ng Hing Kee (bookseller) stores listed as sponsor on the poster (also one of the places to buy tickets) and was told that internally, they were given 3 dates for the Las Vegas show. Also, I saw on Facebook that a few Jacky fans called IEM Showplace to ask and they supposedly said there will be additional shows that will be announced later.

I’m actually pretty sure that there will be additional shows, as it’s impossible for Jacky to come all the way here just for 1 show. The stage itself takes days to build and he is bringing his entire crew, which is close to 300 people. This was one of the determining factors for why Jacky agreed to perform at Mohegan Sun (according to the execs who spoke during the Mohegan Sun / Universal press conference they had awhile back ago), since it would be 3 shows in a row. Also, keep in mind that the weekend of the Las Vegas show is actually the start of Chinese New Year (those first few days are traditionally the most important in terms of family gatherings and such) – it makes absolutely no sense that he would randomly come all the way out here for 1 day at the start of Chinese New Year to do 1 show and then rush back to HK….he might as well stay in HK and celebrate CNY with his family.

So basically, don’t worry, as there will most likely be more shows. My suggestion is to keep checking IEM Showplace’s Facebook page. Of course, if I find out anything, I will be posting it here as well – but in case I don’t get to it in time, their FB page is the best way to go at this point.

  4. Thanks you for such a detailed blog @llwy12 !! I've been looking for tickets for my mom for a month now. When I went to check iemshowplace.com for the MGM Grand Las Vegas show, it says that they're sold out. Do you happen to know of any other resellers or if they'll be adding more tickets?

    1. @Ivy Wong: Sorry to hear that you weren’t able to get tickets to the Las Vegas show. I was actually monitoring IEM showplace's site both during presale on 12/7 and official ticket release on 12/8 and it looks like tickets were sold out within 4 hours both days (though 12/8 was hard to tell, since it looks like their server crashed due to high volume of traffic).

I don’t know of any resellers unfortunately and I doubt that they are going to add tickets for the 2/17 show. But as stated in my response to someone else above, there is a possibility that they are going to add 2 more Las Vegas shows (IEM showplace hasn’t confirmed it but they haven’t denied it either and basically advise us to keep an eye out on their Facebook page). I’ve been checking all my available sources every day but so far I haven’t heard anything concrete….if I do though, I will definitely post up on my blog and tag everyone here as well!

    1. @Krys Krys: Oh no! It can’t be sold out when they haven’t even formally announced ticket sales yet! Here’s what I think might be happening: probably they jumped the gun with putting the info up and had to take it down until they formally announce it, after which they will put the info back up again and the tickets will go on sale again. That’s actually exactly what happened with the earlier ticket sales for the 2/17 show — I had called IEM at that time because a friend claimed that he had bought tickets already yet there hadn’t been a formal announcement of the dates. The girl at IEM said that they had accidentally put the info up and some people were able to get in to buy tickets...after they found out, they took the info down...a couple days later, they made the official announcement about pre-sale.

So I would say don’t give up! Keep checking because until they formally announce it, I’m sure there will still be tickets available...

  9. Not giving up! Going to keep trying....this may be the only time I get to see him in concert. But I found this comment on a Facebook post "I just called and they said it was a glitch yesterday, they are still confirming the Sunday concert, anyone that order tickets for Sunday is cancelled already."

Not sure how they can cancel tickets if it's already been purchased but I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

    1. Thanks for the update! So it looks like I might be right in terms of them jumping the gun. I’ll update my post so people know. But yea, definitely keep trying....I also saw on there that IEM said tickets don’t go on sale until next week....

    2. @Krys Krys: Not sure if you saw my other post but they definitely are able to cancel after purchase. There were people who bought tickets back on 12/7 and 12/8 whose transactions went through but then a week later, they received emails that their orders were cancelled. No reason was given but a few people who called were told that the reason for the cancellation was due to them purchasing the tickets from overseas (outside the U.S.). There is no rule against this according to their terms and conditions so not sure why they cancelled. My guess is that they don’t want to pay the additional fees and deal with the hassle involved with mailing the tickets overseas but I could be wrong....

  12. Hi! I have an update too. I called the number listed on the poster for the San Francisco "ticket" provider. They told me they are taking deposits for presales and only $188 tickets are left. The girl then told me to send a text to another number to put down a deposit. I know this sounds sketchy but seeing as this is an Asian business my guard isn't totally up. Someone on facebook commented and said this is exactly what he did. I've been texting back and forth with a woman via Wechat about getting tickets but for whatever reason she hasn't been too diligent in responding to me in a timely manner. Just this morning i told her I want to proceed and put down a deposit for the $188 tickets but she hasn't responded. I really hope that the cheaper tickets aren't sold out. Although I will pay $188 to see Jacky.

  13. Ok, I have ANOTHER update! I also called the Las Vegas number listed on the poster and spoke to a guy who told me that the tickets for his Sunday show is ALSO sold out....??? I asked how can that be when IEM's website says tickets will go on sale on January 4th....?? He just kept telling me that tickets at his location (in Vegas) is sold out and that the other locations may still have some. This is getting to be rather fishy and sketchy! And I don't know how these outside vendors can be "sold out" if IEM is the official ticket vendor and if tickets can only be purchased through IEM. Is anyone as confused as I am with this???

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. @Krys Krys: Hmmm…it definitely sounds fishy. Was the number you called for Ng Hing Kee or for IEM/Universal? If it’s NG Hing Kee, then I would say ignore it because they are a bookstore that is authorized to sell tickets but they are not the organizers so their info would be second hand anyway. If IEM is the place you’re calling, it’s oossible that they are being vague on purpose, as that seems to be the pattern with them whenever people call, probably because they’ve been getting so many calls, and many of them not “nice” calls.

Seeing that there are so many illegitimate resellers out there, your best bet would be to buy from IEM Showplace directly, at the website they put up on the morning of 1/4. I saw a bunch of sellers trying to sell the $138 and $188 tickets for 2/17 show online for 10 times its value (some people were trying to pass off the $188 tickets as VIP tickets, selling them for $488 – but they put down specifically the section the seats were in, which was definitely NOT VIP section). For the 2/18 show, tickets definitely aren’t sold out, as they cancelled the orders of everyone who had “accidentally” bought tickets last week before the show was confirmed. As long as you get on IEM Showplace’s website right away when ticket sales open, you should be able to get $188 tickets without a problem.

  14. Yes, I called NG Hing Kee in SF and the Las Vegas location. At first, a girl from NG Hing Kee told me the cheapest tickets they have are $138 and I need to put down a deposit to secure my ticket (which would be half the price of the ticket). But she then told me to text another number to proceed with the order. I did and when that lady responded, she told me the cheapest they have left are $188.

I just can't imagine that tickets are sold out for a show that was JUST recently confirmed! I want to buy from IEM directly- just hope I can time it right and purchase before it sells out! My apologies for hijacking this thread! :)

    1. @Krys Krys: No problem at all! There is definitely a lot of confusing surrounding this whole thing (I hate the way the organizers are going about it to be honest – shows the lack of experience on Universal’s part in arranging these types of large scale international concerts). I’m fine with you posting and definitely feel free to continue doing so, especially if it helps lessen the confusion, lol! I’ll keep updating if I hear anything else between now and the 4th, but for the time being, I would suggest holding off on buying from Ng Hing Kee. Are you located in California? If so, you shouldn’t have a problem buying from IEM Showplace’s website….however, just make sure you make a note that ticket sales open at 8:00AM (11:00am EST) and try to hop on as soon as possible once that time hits..if you’re able to get in within an hour of that time, you should be fine. Oh, also, create an account on IEM Showplace’s website ahead of time and on the morning of, log in a few minutes prior to opening so that you can make your choice right away...the bests seats actually go to the ones who purchase first supposedly...if anything goes wrong, you basically get put back at the end of the queue, which is fine if it’s still early and not many people are on, but if it’s later, then you might miss out. Good luck and feel free to post if you have further questions! :-)

So I am asking this in all seriousness-if you're able to log in and buy tickets, can you buy me one (covering my eyes in shame)? I will definitely pay you back. If you want to email me, we can discuss in more detail. My email address is: llsmusings@yahoo.com

    1. @ Dennis @Benny: Are you referring to buying tickets today for the 2/18 show or did you already buy tickets last month for the 2/17 show? One issue that people outside of the U.S. had last month when they tried to buy tickets for the 2/17 show was that their transaction went through (they received confirmation email and everything) but then 1 week later, they received another email saying that their original order was cancelled. There was no explanation in that email on why it was cancelled. People who received that email called IEM to ask and were told it’s because they purchased the tickets from overseas. One person wrote on Facebook how she had put U.S. address, U.S. phone number, used U.S. credit card, etc. but bought the tickets when she was physically in Europe for a trip – her transaction went through initially but a week later she received an email saying it was cancelled…she called them and was told that it was because she was not in the U.S. when she bought tickets (I’m assuming they figured it out through her IP address?). The weird thing is that the terms and conditions on IEM’s website doesn’t say anything about people from outside the U.S. not being allowed to purchase….also the fact that their transactions initially went through but then were cancelled more than a week later (by which time many people had already made arrangements in terms of hotel and transportation), makes me wonder whether not selling to overseas people was an afterthought, especially since 1 week later was when they actually started printing the tickets and mailing them out (I’m wondering if they perhaps didn’t want to pay for and deal with the hassle of mailing international so they decided to cancel?).

      Delete
    2. So this was for the 2/18 show. Now your story of IEM cancelling transactions that were made outside of US is scaring me as I'm in the midst of arranging flights and acccomodations. This is very uncomforting feeling. The only thing that might be different from your story is that I chose to pickup tickets from the concert venue and not by mail. So I'm not even sure what to do now?

      Delete
    3. @Dennis: Thanks for clarifying. So far, I haven’t heard any specifics about whether picking up the tickets versus having them mailed makes a difference or not – most of the complaints I’ve seen/heard never specified which method they chose, only relaying the details about the cancellation and contacting IEM.

Here’s what I would do if in the same situation (note that this is only my personal opinion – I don’t know your personal situation so not sure how feasible any of this is but hopefully some of it helps?). I would proceed with booking hotel, since that can easily be cancelled in the event that the plans fall through (even if you have to pay a deposit, all hotels in Las Vegas will refund that money back to you provided you call to cancel at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled stay). Plane tickets I would hold off on, as it is more difficult to change those and most airlines will charge a fee if you try to change your reservation…of course, the other piece to this is that if you are able to get a special rate on plane tickets and so cannot hold off due to losing that rate and would rather pay the fee for changing or cancelling reservation (which depending on the price of the airfare might make more sense if the fee is cheaper than the difference you would have to pay in the rate), then by all means go for it if that is a risk you are willing to take.

If IEM is doing this the same way they did it last time (on 12/7 and 12/8 when they sold tickets for the 2/17 and also Connecticut shows), most likely the email on whether your order was cancelled or not will come through approximately 1 week after today (unless they got smart and are sending those emails right away instead). I bought my tickets during presale on 12/7 and on that day, I received confirmation that my purchase went through. Then on 12/15, I received another email stating that my order was “Completed”. On 12/18, I received an email stating that my order was “Shipped” and was provided with a tracking number. I received my tickets the week of Christmas. I have a few friends who purchased tickets on 12/8 during the official sale and her timeline was similar to mine except that it take them an extra week to receive the tickets (they received at the end of December, but they had gotten the same 3 emails beforehand). My understanding is that those who received cancellation emails received them around 12/15 and 12/16 (which was around the time I received the “order complete” email). So perhaps it might be a good idea for you to wait until next week to book plane tickets and see what type of email you receive?

  18. Just checked the status via link in email; the "order is marked as Cancelled". The lady from the ticket office said she received multiple calls from Canada about tickets being cancel, but given no reasons for the cancellation or any solutions.
And the $188 tickets are sold out...

    1. That sucks! It's probably because your billing address is outside of the USA :(

    2. @Benny: Oh no! So I guess this means that they don’t allow anyone outside of the U.S. to purchase tickets, even if you choose the option to pick up tickets instead of mailing. It really doesn’t make sense then – at least with the mailing option, we could’ve assumed it’s because of the mailing fees. That sucks big-time! They should at least give an explanation…..

I just checked and it looks like all the $100 level tickets ($108, $138, $188) are all sold out…only the 3 most expensive ticket brackets are left… :-(

    3. I chose the option of mailing to a private mailbox in US near the border. The person who chose pick up at MGM is Dennis.

    4. @Benny: Ah, ok. So we still don’t know then....still sucks though... :-(

    5. Hey cancelled my order too! This is ridiculous. But thanks Llwy12 for your insight.

    6. Whoever got their order cancelled; please check your credit card transaction. Seems like they do not make refunds until you contact them. I am still waiting for their refund.

    7. @Dennis: You’re welcome!

@Benny: Wow, that is ridiculous! If they cancelled your order, they should be automatically processing the refund without anyone asking! Really dislike the way this organizer does things...
